The motorcycles or the quad must be in perfect running order to meet the difficulties of driving on all-terrain throughout the 6,500km of the Raid. During technical verifications and each morning before departure, the Organisation will devote particular attention to controlling elements of safety (light, chain, tyres, GPS and Etrack).
Preparation of the bike or quad is free. You are authorised to modify a number of items on your motorcycle, but the motorcycle must remain compliant with the International Highway Code and the registration document.
Autonomy of the motorcycles
- A minimum fuel autonomy of 250km is necessary whatever the type of terrain (road, sand, gravel).
All fuel stations will be indicated in the road book. According to the stages, refills at the beginning or at the end of the special trial or along the way will be provided by the assistance vehicles or by the Organisation.
Equipment
- Each pilot must have with him a first aid kit and a camel back of 3 litres .
- “Bib foam” tyres are highly recommended.
- A road book roller, a GPS and an Odometer (ICO/ IMO ) are compulsory.
All cars will be equipped with an E-TRACK system (follow-up by satellite), which will ensure safety and guarantee respect of the itineraries imposed by the Organisation.
This materiel will be given during the technical checks before the start.
Documents
A valid insurance policy and the original registration documents of the motorcycle must be presented at the time of the verifications and must accompany the team throughout the itinerary.
Provisional registrations will not be accepted (customs rules of the countries crossed).
The Organisation will provide to each registered vehicle an insurance certificate valid for Mauritania and Senegal
